Pre-fame

Identical twins Bill Kaulitz (born September 1, 1989) and Tom Kaulitz (born ten minutes before his brother) have been performing since the age of 9. After putting on a show in their hometown of Magdeburg in 2001, Bill and Tom met Gustav Schäfer (born September 8, 1988) and Georg Listing (born March 31, 1987), and their similar taste in music led to the creation of the band Devilish. In 2003, the group was approached by music producer Peter Hoffmann and soon were signed with Universal Music Domestic Division in Hamburg, changing their name in the process to Tokio Hotel (Tokio for the lively and engaging city of Tokyo and Hotel for the band's constant touring around the country).

Career

Their first single "Durch den Monsun" (Through the Monsoon) quickly gained popularity after its release, appearing on the German music charts at #15 on August 20th and reaching #1 on August 26th 2005; it reached #1 on the Austrian music charts as well. Their second single was "Schrei", which climed to #5 of the german charts. They released their debut album Schrei on thr 19th September of 2005; lead singer Bill Kaulitz, with the assistance of professional songwriters, wrote the majority of the songs. In early 2006, their third single "Rette mich" (Rescue Me) was released, and it reached #1 as well. The single of Rette mich was different from the album version because of Kaulitz's voice change, which also initiated a re-release of their first album in March 2006. Titled Schrei: So laut du kannst (Scream: As Loud As You Can), it included three new songs, "Schwarz" (Black), "Beichte" (Confession), and "Thema #1" (Topic #1). In September 2006 they released the fourth single from Schrei, "Der letzte Tag" (The Last Day), which also made it into the #1 position. The single for "Der letzte Tag" also includes a bonus track called "Wir schließen uns ein" (We Lock Ourselves Away). The video of "der letzte Tag" played in Berlin on a roof of a cinema.

Currently

According to recent interviews with Tokio Hotel, they are in the process of producing their second album, to be released on February 23, 2007, at a studio in Hamburg. The album will be called Zimmer 483 (Room 483), featuring the single "Übers Ende der Welt" (Beyond the End of the World). The single was originally planned to be released on January 26, 2007, and the world-premiere of the video at Viva Live on January 8th. It appeared that the single release date was moved to February 2, 2007 but it has been recently stated that the single will go on sale on the 26th as originally planned. The premiere-date of the video, which actually was delayed, is reported to have been moved to January 22, 2007 with the band presenting the world premiere on Viva! at 15.00. [1] A European tour in support of the album will begin on March 16, 2007. [citation needed] The band also plans to release the enhanced remake of Schrei in English. Four of the songs ("Through the Monsoon", "Scream", "Black", and "Rescue Me") that have already been recorded in English have been illegally broadcast on the Internet. A Universal Music spokesman has stated that the English-language versions are not official and that legal action is being taken against those involved in the distribution of the songs.There is also one official song in English called Monsoon (Gateway Version) which came on the Der Letzte Tag EP.[citation needed]

* Tokio Hotel performed the song "Instant Karma" (originally by John Lennon) at the "50 JAHRE BRAVO" ("50 Years of ") show on October 21, 2006.

* They won the award for Best-selling German Act at the WMAs in London but were neither given the award on stage nor performed, as due to technical difficulties the show was ended early. [citation needed]

* Singer Bill Kaulitz voiced Arthur in the German version of Arthur and the Minimoys, appearing alongside one of his favorite artists, German singer Nena. [citation needed]

Gemenii identici Bill Kaulitz si Tom Kaulitz(nascuti pe data de 1.septembrie 1989,Tom nascandu-se cu 10 minute inainte de Bill),au concertat de la varsta de 9 ani.Dupa un show in orasul lor natal Magdeburg din 2001,Bill si Tom i-a intalnit pe Gustav Schafer(nascut pe 8 septembrie 1988) si Georg Listing (nascut pe 31 martie 1987).Deoarece gusturile lor in materie de muzica si visele coincideau,au decis sa infiinteze trupa Devilish.
In 2003 trupa a fost descoperita de catre producatoru Peter iar mai tarziu au semnat un contrat cu casa de discuri Universal Music Domestic Division in Hamburg,schimbandu-si numele din Devilish in Tokio Hotel.(Tokio pentru faptul ca acest oras este foarte dinamic si plin de viata iar Hotel pentru simplul fapt ca baietii stau deosebit de des in hoteluri in momentul concertelor.)

Cariera:

Primul lor single “Durch den Monsun” (Prin Furtuna),a prins foarte rapid la public dupa ce întâia aparitie a videoclipului a avut loc la German music charts pe data de 15 august 2005 si pe 26 ajungand in fruntea clasamentului atat in Germania cat si in Austria.
Al doilea single “Schrei” a ajuns pe locul 5 in topul German.Cu aceasta ocazie,si-au lansat primul album de debut numit Schrei pe data de 19 septembrie 2005.
Solistul Bill Kaulitz impreuna cu o echipa de profesionisti au scris textele pentru album.
In martie 2006,baietii de la Tokio Hotel lanseaza cel de-al 3-lea single “Rette Mich”(Salveaza-ma) care a ajuns si el asemenea celorlalte piese in fruntea clasamentului pe locul 1.Varianta lansata a piesei Rette Mich era diferita ca sound fata de cea din album,pentru ca vocea lui Bill era in schimbare.De aceea,ei au lansat un remake al albumului Schrei(Schrei so laut du kanst!)cu toate piesele(Martie 2006),incluzand trei piese noi si anume: Schwarz(Negru),Beichte(Confesii) si Thema No.1 (Subiectul nr.1).
In septembrie au lansat cel de-al 4-lea single numit “Der letzte Tag”(Ultima zi),care a ajuns pe locul 1 in top.Single-ul “Der Letzte Tag” continea o piesa bonus si anume "Wir schließen uns ein" (We Lock Ourselves Away).
Videoclipul piesei Der letzte Tag a fost filmat pe acoperisul unui cinematograf.

In prezent:

Conform unor interviuri recente,Tokio Hotel lucreaza pentru noul album “Zimmer 483”(Camera 483) al 2-lea album din cariera lor si care va fi lansat pe 23 februarie 2007(studioul din Hamburg).
Prima piesa extrasa de pe noul album este “"Übers Ende der Welt" (Beyond the End of the World).Single-ul era stabilit sa fie lansat pe 26 ianuarie 2007,iar premierea pe postul german de muzica Viva Live sa fie pe data de 8 ianuarie 2007.Intr-un final premiera videoclipului a fost pe data de 22 ianuarie,impreuna cu trupa care era prezenta la emisiunea Viva Premiere (22 ianuarie 2007,ora 15:00).
Baietii vor pleca pe data de 16 martie 2007 in prima parte a turneului european pentru promovarea noului album Zimmer 483.De asemenea,acesta nu este singurul plan al baietilor de la Tokio Hotel.Ei vor sa faca un remake al songului Schrei.Patru dintre piese (Through the Monsoon,Black si Rescue me ),au fost deja inregistrate in engleza dar conform unui “front man” de la Universal Music,aceste variante distribuite ilegal pe Internet nu sunt cele oficiale.

Aparitii Tv recente:

~Instant Karma – piesa lui John Lennon a fost cantata de baieti la aniversarea a 50 de ani BRAVO ("50 JAHRE BRAVO") – in 21.octombrie 2006

~Au castigat la categoria “Best German Act” la WMA (World music awards).

~Bill Kaulitz si-a inregistrat vocea pentru filmul de animatie “Arthur and the Minimoys” impreuna cu cantareata lui preferata Nena.
